The new Q Series for 2001 built on the success of its predecessor with key developments in cabinet and driver technology.
 
The cabinets featured curved side and front panels - which not only add to the visual appeal but also add mechanical stiffness to reduce colouration. With the top surface of the Uni-Q array breaking through the top surface of the cabinet and trimmed with a moulded faring the dispersion and smoothness of response is improved – a development that was first adopted into the Reference Series.
 
Another development carried over from the Reference Series was the change to a metal dome tweeter, in this case aluminium, to provide a smooth and detailed response to beyond 20kHz.
 
Q1 (2001-06)
Q1 was a two-way bookshelf system with a 165mm(6.5”) Uni-Q array.
 
Q3 (2001-06)
The floor standing version of Q1, Q3 offered increased bass extension and elegant looks.
 
Q5 (2001-06)
A floor standing 2½-way system with a 165mm (6.5”) bass driver and 165mm (6.5” Uni-Q array.
 
Q7 (2001-06)
Q7 was a full three-way with the traditional KEF ‘racetrack’ shaped B169 bass driver and 165mm (6.5”) Uni-Q array.
 
Q8s (2001-06)
Developed from the Q85s, Q8s was the wall-mountable surround speaker for multi-channel applications.
 
Q9c (2001-06)
The centre speaker of the range for home theatre applications, Q9c used the same 165mm (6.5”) Uni-Q array for perfect timbre matching and detailed dialogue reproduction.
Further models were added to the range to offer greater choice for the customer and to offer more flexibility in constructing multi-channel systems.
 
Q Compact, Q4 and Q6c were bookshelf, floor standing and centre channel models all featuring a new 130mm (5.25”) Uni-Q array to allow slim, elegant cabinet profiles.
 
Q2ds was a three-way dipole surround that incorporated a 130mm (6.5”) reflex loaded, down-firing bass driver and a pair of 165mm (6.5”) Uni-Q arrays on either side of the cabinet. This system was closely modelled on the successful TDM34DS and Reference Series Model 206ds.
 
Q10c was a larger three-way centre speaker utilising two 130mm(5.25”) bass drivers and the new 130mm (5.25”) Uni-Q array.
 
Q11 was a full four-way floor standing model with a racetrack B169 bass driver and a dedicated 165mm (6.5”) lower midrange unit for detailed reproduction even at high output levels.
